During May, over 40 museums, exhibition halls, and cultural spaces in Montevideo participate in the 'Montevideo + Museos' event, organized by the Montevideo Tourism Association in conjunction with the Museums Committee. This initiative celebrates the International Museum Day on May 18 by offering diverse and innovative cultural activities accessible to all audiences. The event is supported by the Montevideo City Hall's Tourism Division and the Ministry of Tourism.

Uruguay Celeste Deporte y Diversidad is a Montevideo-based LGBTQ+ sports club whose amateur soccer team provides a safe, inclusive environment. Founded in 2006 (before the first Gay World Cup in 2007), it was born to give a space to gay players "who had no place in football" . The club’s goal is described as making sport a space that "gives free field to pride" , reflecting its mission of promoting diversity and fighting discrimination in sport.
