London’s gay community is centered in Soho, with Old Compton Street as its most iconic hub of LGBTQ+ nightlife and culture. The city also boasts vibrant queer scenes in Vauxhall, Shoreditch, and beyond, making it one of the most diverse and expansive gay communities in Europe.

Trans girls have been told they must leave Guides UK by 6 September. This follows the organisation’s December announcement where they said they made the “difficult decision” to bar trans girls from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. The announcement followed the 6 April 2025 Supreme Court ruling stating that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex. The organisation said that the deadline provides "affected members and their families time to plan, prepare, access support, and decide when - between now and September - they feel ready to leave". By 6 September, any trans girls or women who also volunteer in a role open to “women only” will need to move role.
