Queer Sports Leagues in Brussels

Created in 2021, the Casual Cycling Club welcomes women, trans, and non-binary riders of all levels to ride together and discover Brussels and its surroundings . It has grown into a community of over 500 cyclists.

Zinneke Sticks is an LGBTQ+-friendly hockey team newly created in March 2023 in Brussels . The team is open to players of all backgrounds and skill levels, aiming to create an environment where everyone can play hockey while being themselves.

The BGS badminton league began in 1994 and has grown from a handful of players to over a hundred. It welcomes all ability levels as a recreational activity. BGS badminton players also participate in numerous international LGBT tournaments (including Gay Games and EuroGames), where the club has won many prizes .

Straffe Ketten RFC is Belgium’s first and only fully inclusive rugby club, founded in 2010 . A proud member of International Gay Rugby, it competes in matches and tournaments in Belgium and abroad, and promotes an environment where all players can play rugby in a safe, fun, and inclusive setting.

Brussels Gay Sports organizes running sessions on Wednesday evenings (Koninklijk Park) and Saturday mornings (Jubelpark) in Brussels. Experienced runners share tips with others, and the BGS running team participates in races like the Gaston Roelants 10 km and the 20 km of Brussels, encouraging participants of all levels to reach the finish .

The BGS futsal team meets once a week on Mondays to train under coach supervision and play matches among themselves in a friendly setting .

Brussels Gay Sports (BGS) has a swimming team composed of people from many nationalities who train together in an LGBTQ+-friendly environment. The team emphasizes fun and comfort while practicing the sport, allowing members to be themselves while staying in shape .

Since 1991, BGS's volleyball league has grown an enthusiastic membership. The club emphasizes team spirit and inclusivity regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or skill level, and fielded multiple teams that compete in regional amateur championships .
