Room 405, City Centre Library, Surrey
This first workshop of the Social Justice 101 Series introduces the foundations of queer and trans justice. We’ll explore how cisheteropatriarchy—the system enforcing heterosexuality and binary gender as the norm—shapes the lives and struggles of LGBTQIA+ communities. Participants will: Learn about the systemic roots of queer and trans marginalization. Explore key terms and identity markers used across queer and trans communities. Discuss queerness and transness as not just identities but also political commitments. Reflect on everyday practices of solidarity and inclusion. Queer in Colour is a safe space for queer Bipoc folx to get informed, ask questions, and feel empowered.
