An opera based on Thomas Mallon's novel, set in 1953 Washington, D.C., exploring themes of love, secrecy, and political tension. The production features music by Gregory Spears, libretto by Greg Pierce, conducted by Bruce Stasyna, and directed by Kevin Newbury. Performances are scheduled from July 10 to July 12, 2026, at the Balboa Theatre, with showtimes on July 10 at 19:30, July 11 at 19:30, and July 12 at 14:00. The opera is performed with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and includes a post-performance talk back. The event is supported by season sponsors and features a cast of distinguished opera artists.
