A More Perfect Quilt: Immigrants, Queers, and New York City

About this event

Refuge America invites you to celebrate NYC Immigrant Heritage Week 2026 with an event at the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center. The event features a tour of the exhibition, a jukebox experience with music from an era of courage and change, and food by Eat Offbeat. Guest speakers include Henry Trieu, a former refugee from Vietnam and successful restaurateur, and special guests Council Member Elsie Encarnacion and Assembly Member Tony Simone. The gathering honors the layered identities of New York's immigrant and queer communities, focusing on issues faced by LGBTQIA+ newcomers such as legal barriers, community networks, faith, housing, and creative resistance. The event is scheduled for April 16, 2026, from 18:00 to 20:00.
