Queer Sports Leagues in Maspalomas

Guanxes is a sports and cultural club for the LGTBIQ+ community based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Founded in late 2024, its mission is to create a safe inclusive space for LGBT athletes and community members . The club began by organizing simple activities like hiking and running, and quickly incorporated new sports as participants proposed them . Its programs emphasize diversity and respect, welcoming members of all orientations to participate in various recreational and cultural activities .

The Torneo de Pádel Maspalomas por la Diversidad is an annual LGTBI+ padel tournament held in Maspalomas and organized by the Canary Islands Padel Federation. It features men’s, women’s and mixed draws and drew about 150 players in 2023 from Spain and abroad . The event is designed to promote sports participation, healthy values and social inclusion for the LGTBI+ community . It is explicitly inclusive and discrimination-free: participants of all orientations are welcome and the tournament emphasizes respect and a welcoming atmosphere for every player . By hosting this competition Maspalomas has become a key national venue for LGBT padel, alongside Madrid and Barcelona .
