Stonewall 1994
About this event
On June 26, 1994, Asia's first Pride march took place in Quezon City, Philippines. It was organized by more than 30 members of local LGBTQ+ groups, including the Progressive Organization of Gays and the Metropolitan Community Church Philippines. The march was held in remembrance of the Stonewall Uprising and coincided with a broader protest against the Value Added Tax (VAT). This event marked the Philippines as the first country in Asia and the Pacific to hold a Pride-related march.
