Join us as we wrap up this year’s UNHEARD sound and music festival with another session of our A2B vinyl listening and analysis series - this time with our guest host, Gilles Vanderstocken, plundering his archives and arriving on 1973’s La Planète Sauvage (Fantastic Planet) soundtrack, composed by Alain Goraguer. Gilles is a practicing architect (having co-founded BEAU Architect), university teacher, musician and long-time vinyl collector. He discovered the music for this surrealist, sci-fi animated masterpiece when a friend offered him a copy of the original record and soon became obsessed with its musical complexity and hypnotic atmosphere. The psychedelic and melodic jazz-rock music composed by Goraguer is widely considered a cult classic soundtrack that perfectly mirrors the surreal atmosphere of the film. The soundtrack also holds legendary status in the music industry, particularly inside the hip-hop community which has sampled it extensively.
