Nattland is a dark comedy by Marius von Mayenburg, exploring themes of art, history, and truth through a sharp, satirical narrative. The play follows siblings Nicola and Philipp as they uncover a seemingly harmless 1920s Vienna painting during their father's house clearance, only to discover a signature that plunges them into an absurd dispute over money, prestige, and inheritance. Directed by Anna-Maria Lipponen, the production combines cinematic aesthetics with biting dialogue and absurd humor, creating a visually rich performance that questions the value of art and the darkness of history. The premiere is scheduled for September 10, 2026, at Svenska Teatern in Helsinki.
