The Finnish Parliament’s LGBTQIA+ Network has been invited to be the official patron of the 2026 Helsinki Pride event. The role of patron is traditionally assigned to an entity that does significant work to promote human rights, equality and the well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community in society. The Parliament’s LGBTQIA+ Network is a cross-party forum that aims to promote the rights of sexual and gender minorities in legislative work and political decision-making. The patronage emphasizes the importance of parliamentary work and political commitment in securing fundamental and human rights at a time when the rights of rainbow people are facing challenges both domestically and internationally.
