About this event

A film set in Newcastle in 1988, 'Blue Jean' follows Jean, a sport teacher who is secretly in love with punk rocker Viv. When a new student threatens to reveal her sexuality, Jean resorts to extreme measures to keep her job. The film, shot on 16mm, portrays the resilience of a queer community in a repressive England of the 1980s, and has received critical acclaim, including the Audience Award at Venice and multiple nominations at the British Independent Film Awards.
