Founded in 1980, SC Janus e.V. is Cologne’s non-profit queer sports club; it is the first and largest such club in Europe , offering over 90 weekly sports sessions in 45 disciplines in an inclusive, discrimination-free environment .

Run of Colours is an annual charity 5 km run in Cologne (since 2009) benefiting Aidshilfe Köln (HIV/AIDS support). The event (motto “Ich lauf' mir die Füße bunt”) attracts around 1,400 participants who support diversity and acceptance, with 100% of the entry fees donated to Aidshilfe Köln .
