Cologne is Germany's queer capital: Schaafenstraße (the "Bermuda Triangle") packs seven bars, cafés, saunas, and clubs into 150 meters, with Mumu, ExCorner, Iron Cocktail Lounge, and schampanja. Cologne Pride / CSD is Europe's biggest Pride parade, drawing over 1.2 million visitors; the city also hosts Pink Carnival and a two-week Pride program.

Run of Colours is an annual charity 5 km run in Cologne (since 2009) benefiting Aidshilfe Köln (HIV/AIDS support). The event (motto “Ich lauf' mir die Füße bunt”) attracts around 1,400 participants who support diversity and acceptance, with 100% of the entry fees donated to Aidshilfe Köln .
