About this event
Join the Carol Shields Prize for Fiction, Black Girls Read Chicago, and Women and Children First for a hybrid book club meeting focused on 'Code Noir' by Canisia Lubrin. The event features an online participation option via Zoom and an in-person gathering at Women & Children First bookstore in Chicago. Canisia Lubrin will join virtually, and the event will be moderated in person by Cynthia Okechukwu. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance, as the Zoom link will be sent prior to the event. The discussion will explore themes from 'Code Noir,' a collection of linked fictions inspired by the historical Code Noir, examining slavery and colonial history through vivid storytelling. The event aims to celebrate Black women writers and promote literary engagement.
