On May 25, 2025, Chiang Mai hosted the inaugural Chiang Mai Pride 2025, marking the first official Pride Month celebration in Thailand's history. The event featured a parade starting at 18:00, with registration at 15:00 at Tha Phae Gate Plaza, followed by a parade route across central Chiang Mai ending at Tha Phae Gate. The celebration included public speeches, live music, light shows, and cultural performances, emphasizing themes of equality, diversity, and human dignity. The event was a significant step toward social acceptance and empowerment for the LGBTQ+ community in Chiang Mai and Thailand.
