Calgary's LGBTQ+ community is primarily centered around the Beltline neighborhood, particularly along 17th Avenue SW. The city hosts Calgary Pride annually and has a growing queer scene with venues like Twisted Element, The Backlot, and Goliath's. Despite being in traditionally conservative Alberta, Calgary has developed a more progressive LGBTQ+ community with various support organizations, queer-friendly businesses, and cultural events that celebrate diversity.

Philthy City DNB is hosting a return event after over three years, featuring the legendary drum & bass group Black Sun Empire from Blackout Recordings. The event takes place at Dickens Pub in Calgary on May 15, 2026, starting at 9:00 PM MDT and ending at 2:30 AM MDT. The lineup includes local talents such as Calibrate, Moe Beaslee B2B Eradik, Restrikt, and Kitsu, all performing on a full PK Sound System. Additional entertainment includes live painting by Andreas Tiedeman and vendors like Uncommon Commodities and Chris Jones Art & Design. Tickets range from $33.68 to $44.23 CAD, available through Showpass.
