Queer Climate Justice: Community Mosaic Quilt Making Workshop

About this event

A free community workshop on April 17, 2026, from 17:00 to 20:30 at the Centre for Newcomers, 565 36 St NE #125, Calgary. Organized by Calgary Climate Hub in collaboration with the Centre for Newcomers and SewProudYYC, the event explores the intersection of queer justice and climate justice through art. Participants will create individual fabric pieces decorated at crafting stations, incorporating discussions on climate policy and mutual aid, which will then be sewn together into a collective community mosaic quilt. The workshop aims to raise awareness of the disproportionate impacts of climate change on 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and promote collective action. No prior crafting experience is needed, and refreshments are provided.
