About this event
This year, we are honouring queer resilience through our featured art exhibition, “Growing Through the Cracks,” and uplifting and centring the diverse array of voices that make up our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We are especially excited to highlight the role of the Black and Indigenous community members whose experiences being queer and racialized have often been overlooked or disregarded in LGBTQIA+ spaces. Sharing the stories of our community members is crucial. By highlighting authentic experiences and honouring the multiple identities within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, we celebrate its rich diversity. “Growing Through the Cracks” is an artistic showcase of what queer resilience can mean. Just like a dandelion growing through cracks in the pavement: stepped on and hated, but beautiful, innocent, and determined to grow. This resilience can take many different forms, and we are thrilled to showcase many interpretations of this thematic framework.
