Coca Orbits - Laura Huertas Millán
About this event
In this lecture performance, Colombian artist Laura Huertas Millán explores the layered history and significance of the coca plant, contrasting its traditional healing and social roles in Indigenous Andean communities with its reduction to cocaine in Western imagination. The performance combines live cinema, documentary, and science fiction to examine coca's journey from the Andes into global systems of knowledge, control, and desire. It also addresses current debates on the legal status of coca and questions who produces knowledge about it.
