20/20 Vision: Reclaiming Mythological Rituals

This event features a screening curated by Sonia D’Alto, who presents her book 'Reclaiming Mythological Rituals' dedicated to the Italian feminist and pacifist artist group Le Nemesiache. The collective, active from 1970 in Naples and the Amalfi Coast, promoted experimental art and feminist ideals inspired by mythology and science fiction. The screening includes three experimental Super 8 films from the late 1970s: 'Il Mare ci ha chiamate' (1978), depicting a performative procession at Gaiola Island; 'Autocoscienza' (1976), capturing psycho-fabulous dances in symbolic locations; and 'Follia come poesia' (1977-79), a participatory film exploring themes of madness and societal stigmas. The event also offers the opportunity to purchase D’Alto’s book, which includes unpublished documents and essays revisiting the collective’s activism.
