About this event
Join Queer History Boston and the Museum of African American History for a screening of 'The Watermelon Woman' (1996), Cheryl Dunye’s groundbreaking debut and a landmark of New Queer Cinema. The event includes a panel discussion on 'Silences in the Archives,' exploring gaps and distortions in historical records caused by systemic inequities, especially racism. The panel features Angela T. Tate, Arielle Gray, Micha Broadnax, moderated by Mik Hamilton. The event offers an opportunity to experience a foundational queer film, hear insights from archivists and historians, and engage in conversations about representation, memory, and building inclusive histories.
