Protoplasm is an event featuring goth, industrial, death rock, EBM, and darkwave music. It takes place every third Thursday at Upstairs @ Ottobar in Baltimore, with doors opening at 9 pm. The event includes performances by bands such as Bauhaus, Chemlab, Cocksure, Curse Mackey, Fields of the Nephilim, Kaelen Mikla, Klack, Mephisto Walz, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Out Out, Pop Will Eat Itself, Secret Shame, Skinny Puppy, SPECTRES, Strange Boutique, and TSOL, along with DJs ZAZIE MONDUST & PLAGUELUSTRE.
